During the Open Heritage Days (Open Monumentendagen) on 9, 10 and 11 September, the site of the former Gelatine Factory in Hasselt willl host a free new art event: Alternate Current. For three days professional art organizations, studios, workshops, and independent artists form the European region of Maastricht, Aachen and Hasselt will be plugged into the same electrical current. More than 40 artists and musicians from Belgium, germany and the Netherlands will be putting the rusty fuseboxes of the Gelatinefabriek to the test. 

During these three days, visitors also have a chance to visit 'the Open University of Diversity', Koen Vanmechelen's studio at the gelatine.

Opening hours;

Friday 9 september
- 19:00hrs opening
- 19:30hrs - 22:00hrs preview of all the exhibitions and open studios
- 21:00hrs-01:00hrs musical performances by the bands Blueson, Buffoon and COEM (new cd release) and a dj set by Jan Marechal

Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 september
-11:00hrs - 18:00hrs free admission ot the exhibitions, projects and studios
