The location is found, the date determined, the egg stops and is ready to hatch…For Artzuid 2011, leading writer and artist Jan Cremer will present his ‘SCULPTURALE - THE WORLD AROUND. Once again, the stately avenues of Berlage’s Plan-Zuid a will be the unique setting for fifty sculptures by internationally renowned artists. Cremer is displaying daring featuring works by Anthony Caro, Yayoi Kusama, Anish Kapoor, Auguste Rodin, Henry Moore, Jean Tinguely, Niki de Saint Phalle, Hans Arp, Koen Vanmechelen, Subodh Gupta and Zhang Wang.

Koen Vanmechelen will present 'Coming World', a work about evolution. An enourmous wooden egg is, as always in the oeuvre of artist Koen Vanmechelen, a metaphor for energy and mass. In Coming world, this egg uncovers the fanatical movement of each individual, but at the same time, it reveals the story of the entire specie. Through the labyrinth that our lives are, uncontrolled and apparently aimless, it searches its own way. Creating his own identity but also that of our future generations.
