Hotel De Inmigrantes - Cosmopolitan Stranger

2 June 2012-31 August 2012

Koen Vanmechelen will open a new expo in his Open University of Diversity which will be a part of Manifesta 9. This is a European biennale which travels around Europe and tries to connect artists from different countries with eachother. This year Manifesta will be established in Genk but with different parallel activities in the entire Meuse-Rhine Euroregion.

The OpUnDi of Koen Vanmechelen in Hasselt will be one of the official parallel events for Manifesta. Koen Vanmechlen will be the host for 10 international artists. They will live, sleep, eat and make art within the OpUnDi. The 10 artists come from all parts of the world like for example The United States of America, Australia, Brazil, Philipines, India, Palastina, Czech Republic, ...

The expo itself will be constructed with the photographs taken during the stay of the international artists and the things that they leave behind when they go back home. The starting date of Hotel De Inmigrantes - Cosmopolitan Stranger will be on the 2nd of June 2012 and will continue until the 31st of August 2012. It promises to be a busy but rewarding period for the OpUnDi.
