King’s Crown

A rooster bound to an inox globe which is embedded in a ring supported by a scaffold. Four core elements in Koen Vanmechelen’s installation art coincide in the work King’s Crown to suggest the majesty of the ordinary. Mysterium tremendum et fascinosum. As the Russian writer Leo Tolstoy put it: ‘Enlightenment, divinity is inherent in all human life.’
