Koen Vanmechelen donates work to Kunst tegen Kanker (art against cancer)
In 2012, Inge Faes set up her own campaign against cancer. Within the framework of Kom op tegen Kanker, she solicited several Flemish artists to donate a work for an art auction.
Infinity – C.C.P., Sint-Trudo Hospital, Sint-Truiden (BE)
Art heals, spoke Florence Nightingale, and it collaborates with science in the care for us humans. For this reason, the Sint-Trudo Hospital of Sint-Truiden commissioned artist Koen Vanmechelen to create an artwork in honour of the opening of their new building. The result is one of hope and unremitting energy; Infinity – C.C.P.

We updated the calendar and with 20 expo’s lined up from now until the end of the summer, there will be plenty of occasions to see Koen’s work or to attend one of his lectures on biocultural diversity. And don’t forget to check out our agenda on a regular base, because we still have a lot more to announce, like a solo exhibition at ConnerSmith in Washington (see the announcement in Washington Post) and Koen’s participation in the Biennial of Venice.
The Mechelse Styrian - 17th Generation - Cosmopolitan Chicken Project, Ljubljana (SI)
A new year equals a new crossing. Galerija Kapelica in Ljubljana invited Vanmechelen for a new solo exhibition this spring. This art space, in the centre of Ljubljana, organises projects and exhibitions with artists that are strongly related to science and technology.
Their invitation brought Koen to the 17th crossing in the Cosmopolitan Chicken Project; an artistic and scientific crossbreeding project that interbreeds domestic chickens from different countries and aims at the creation of a true cosmopolitan chicken as a symbol for global diversity.

Koen Vanmechelen is invited by WassermanProjects for the inaugural exhibition at their new gallery in Detroit (Michigan, US). WassermanProjects opens on February 1 with Vanmechelens newest solo exhibition Inception – Cosmopolitan Chicken Project.

It is with the greatest honor that we can announce that Koen Vanmechelen has been selected for dOCUMENTA 13. Curator Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev invited Koen Vanmechelen with his Cosmopolitan Chicken Project to be part of one of the most important expo’s in the world. Documentation from this project will be part of ‘The Worldly House’ an archive inspired by Donna Haraway’s writings on multi-species co-evolution compiled and presented by Tue Greenfort.
