Koen Vanmechelen at Documenta13 in Kassel
For dOCUMENTA (13) curator Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev invited Koen Vanmechelen with his Cosmopolitan Chicken Project to participate in one the most important expo’s in the world. Documentation from this project will be part of ‘The Worldly House”; an archive inspired by Donna Haraway’s writings on multi-species co-evolution compiled and presented by Tue Greenfort.
Vanmechelen will illustrate his scientific - artistic projects through documents and archive material. In addition to his annual magazine The Accident, he will exhibit the dossier Hybridity in art and science, consisting of his interdisciplinary projects and of scientific papers. A DVD of the Cosmopolitan Chicken Research Project (CC®P) focuses on one of these collaborations with scientists. The different genetic lines of each chicken species in Vanmechelen’s universal breeding project CCP are put into perspective in a monographic series of booklets.
