A series of lectures is planned in honour of Koen Vanmechelen’s installation AWAKENER/LIFEBANK at DordtYart. As one of the main artists of the exhibition GlassFever, Koen will discuss his works, accompanied by experts in the art world. 26 May 2016. A first lecture about Vanmechelen’s place in contemporary art by Ann Demeester, director of the Frans Hals Museum (NL). 7 July 2016. Accompanied by glass artist and sculptor Koen Vanderstukken these lectures focus on the use of glass in contemporary art. 14 July 2016. Together with the Dutch philosopher Maarten Doorman, Koen hosts a third lecture on social engagement in art. Vanmechelen’s installation AWAKENER/LIFEBANK is part of the exhibition GlassFever. From 1 May until 25 September 2016, four locations in the city center of Dordrecht (NL) focus on the innovative use of glass in contemporary art. Works by Koen Vanmechelen are presented in the old factoryhall of DordtYart and in the Dordrechts Museum. All lectures take place at DordtYart, in Dordrecht (NL) and cost €5,00 each.
