The Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna currently hosts the world’s largest collection of paintings and other media by Pieter Breugel the Elder. In honor of the exhibition a work of Koen Vanmechelen will be shown at the accompanying Art Salon. Curator Petra Stelzer; “Both artists can be seen as chroniclers, guides and pioneers of their time. Both oeuvres accentuate the unheimliche of the seemingly banal and thereby break perception - a Bruegelian landscape is not a landscape, a Cosmopolitan chicken is not a chicken.”
