Koen Vanmechelen and Johan Braeckman search for the core of our complex world, Druk in Leuven, 7 May

Koen Vanmechelen, author of the book ‘This is not a chicken’ , and Johan Braeckman, author of the book ‘Fascinerend leven’, try to solve the enigma of evolution at the intersection of art, science and philosophy. During ‘Druk in Leuven’ they are invited for a conversation on how we think about biology and science and on the beauty of limitation. Together they pay tribute to the interplay of species and to the forever evolving and fascinating life.

Koen Vanmechelen is an international renowned conceptual artist who operates at the intersection of art, nature and science. His work aims to provide perspectives for a future where we live in balanced coexistence with other species. He is the driving force of LABIOMISTA, a permanent and evolving work of art about the mix of life.

Johan Braeckman is a professor at the UGent who teaches, among others, ‘Historical overview of philosophy’ and ‘History of Biology’. Braeckman is specialized in Darwin’s evolution theory. In 2013 he received the Loopbaanprijs from the Koninklijke Vlaamse Academie of Belgium for Science and Arts.
