TERRANIDI: a new gallery dedicated to Koen Vanmechelen

For over thirty years, Koen Vanmechelen’s work has found its way into homes, museums, institutions, private collections, and public spaces across the globe through a dedicated network of international galleries. Strong, valuable partners continue to carry this philosophy forward, and alongside these lasting collaborations, a new chapter has now begun with the opening of TERRANIDI, a dedicated gallery space for the artist’s universe.


Taking its name from nidus, the Latin word for nest, TERRANIDI is conceived not as a passive intermediary or a neutral white box, but as an active field of transmission. Operating by appointment only, it is designed as an intimate, focused space for encounter, dialogue, and connection, holding artworks within the warmth of a shared home.





The gallery is led by Chido Govera, the artist’s muse, wife, and closest witness. A Zimbabwean farmer, social entrepreneur, educator, and founder of The Future of Hope, a foundation that trains people across Africa in sustainable food systems. Govera brings a profound lived knowledge of resilience, community, and what it means to make something grow in different ground. While Vanmechelen works with the egg as a symbol of origin and potential, Govera works with the same logic in soil and spore, stepping forward as custodian, advocate, and builder with global recognition, including the 2025 National Geographic Society Wayfinder Award, the Tällberg-SNF-Eliasson Global Leadership Prize, and roles as a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader and Global Goodwill Champion.


The inaugural exhibition marks a significant milestone by presenting something entirely new: for the first time, Vanmechelen is working with ceramics. Conceived as an ode to the ground, the exhibition honors the soil that holds, yields, and makes life possible. From the clay, new organic bodies, vessels, and nests emerge, each giving rise to the next in a creative process that is fragile, fertile, ancient, and endlessly becoming.


In a time that often feels hurried and divided, TERRANIDI offers art as an invitation to pause, to question deeply, and to recognize ourselves in one another. Rooted in truths about connection, diversity, and renewal, this new nest ensures that the dialogue continues, carrying the philosophy of crossbreeding, resilience, and hope far beyond any borders.


Operating by appointment only, the gallery offers visitors the time and attention needed to truly experience the work, holding artworks within the warmth of a shared home while acting as both a nurturing ground and a distribution network that sends Vanmechelen's vision out into the world.
